Barcelona president Joan Laporta has voiced his support for current boss Ronald Koeman amid the club's current troubles. But there's no doubt he will be keeping a close eye on Xavi's progress in Qatar.Xavi is a Barcelona legend and ever since he took his first steps into management in 2019, it was suggested he would one day return to lead the Catalan club.He is currently in charge of Al-Sadd, the club he finished his playing career, and has impressed, leading the club to the Qatar Stars League title last season. With Koeman under serious pressure at Camp Nou, Xavi's return to Barcelona might just arrive sooner rather than later. p1fha7lq6tjtu179c2m29nvpt2b.jpg

How are Al-Sadd getting on this season?

Xavi's side have won their opening five league games in 2021/22, picking up where they left on in their pursuit of back-to-back titles.

Of course, to think that Xavi's success in Qatar would automatically lead to similar results in Spain isn't entirely accurate, but Barcelona have to be impressed by their former midfielder.

Indeed, Pep Guardiola has already tipped the Spaniard for a fruitful managerial career.

“Xavi was already a manager when he played. His eyes sparkled watching football. He will be a manager for sure,” Guardiola told Catalunya Radio in 2019, per AS.

“There are people who play and you would never say they will be managers. This is not the case."

Xavi-ball in full effect at Al-Sadd

Xavi had the pleasure of playing under Guardiola, and a clip of Al-Sadd's scintillating football shows he clearly learned a thing or two from the ex-Barcelona boss.

The clip shows Al-Sadd tearing their opponents apart with a fine back-to-front move that starts with the goalkeeper and finishes with striker Baghdad Bounedjah neatly slotting the ball into the back of the net.

It's just a possible hint of what could be coming to Camp Nou should Xavi make the switch to his former club.

Another clip shows just how impressive Al-Sadd look under Xavi.

Now, there's a question over whether Barcelona's current players could pull of a move like that.

Yet it's clear that Xavi has established an identity with Al-Sadd, and, with Barcelona currently heading nowhere under Koeman, it might be in Laporta's best interests to act soon.
