Toto Wolff has said that it is possible, but not certain, that Mercedes will look to change the engine in the back of Lewis Hamilton's car for the Turkish Grand Prix this weekend.

The Formula 1 title race is turning into its final straight with seven races to go and this weekend's Turkish GP could be one that potentially swings the momentum back towards Red Bull and Max Verstappen, if Mercedes do opt to change Lewis' power unit.

We saw Verstappen, of course, do exactly that for the Russian Grand Prix and he did well in terms of damage limitation with him rising to second, so that's something Lewis and Mercedes will have to emulate if and when they take their own penalty.

Indeed, it could happen as early as this weekend at Istanbul Park and Wolff has admitted as such - though says it is not a definite right now:

"It's a possibility.

"When, and how, is not yet decided."

"Most important is that you don't DNF because of a reliability issue," continued Wolff to Sky Sports. "You can cope with swings, whether you finish second, third, I think that is OK, the championship is going to go long. But if you don't finish...

"So we are looking at the parameters of the engines, making sure we don't suffer from any reliability problems."

It's an extra dynamic that the teams and drivers have to deal with this season and Mercedes will need to ensure they make the call at as optimal a time as possible to avoid it seriously hampering Hamilton in the title fight.
