Andy Ruiz Jr has a new tattoo and it covers his entire back

Andy Ruiz Jr, the man who famously defeated Anthony Joshua, has now not only transformed his physical appearance, but has also transformed the entirety of his back into an art canvas.

The Mexican heavyweight became a common household name after his fight with Joshua, which was technically never meant to happen.

It had only come about because AJ’s original opponent Jarrell Miller had failed multiple drug tests in the run-up to their scheduled fight at Madison Square Garden.

Miller was ranked as the third-best heavyweight fighter at the time, compared to Ruiz Jr’s no. 14 positioning in the rankings, but they go out of the window when you step inside the ring.

Between both fighters, they had both produced 21 knockout finishes, but what set them apart was that Joshua was undefeated and Ruiz Jr had lost once. However, in amazing style, Ruiz Jr won via TKO in the seventh round, perfectly highlighting that physical presence isn’t vital in boxing, as he was far from in stereotypical shape.

Through becoming the first person to professionally beat Joshua, Ruiz Jr put himself onto a large platform and is now a large idol to many underdogs.

Ruiz Jr’s Boxing Career

Prior to Ruiz Jr’s breakthrough into worldwide fame, his professional boxing record stood at 32-1 and his amateur career stood at 105-5. In amongst his staggering amateur record, he had also obtained two Mexican national junior Olympic gold medals. His professional career would then begin on March 28, 2009.

Ruiz Jr’s New Tattoo

Even more recent to this, though, Ruiz Jr has stunned his fans and the boxing community with his most recent tattoo piece, which quite staggeringly spreads across his entire back and onto his bottom. He has given his original ‘victorious’ some extra emphasis as well.

The image, of which he shared online of his new piece of ink, also showed his newly trimmed body shape.

The tattoo includes what looks like a roman gladiator wielding a sword. On a whole, his new piece is all black with added shading and shadowing.

As with many people, each of their tattoos contains a deeper meaning and this is correspondent to Ruiz Jr also, with him having many previous tattoos, with one being found on his chest which displays his religious beliefs and the roses represent several people he holds dear to him; and one on his right bicep displaying his heritage.

Andy Ruiz Jr Next Fight?

But with all of his new ink on his back, when will he be presenting it on the canvas next?

It could be as soon as the end of this year against either Luis Ortiz or Charles Martin. Who would you be backing if it were to happen and are you a fan of his bold tattoo choice?
