The Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield has hinted that Wolves fans would not be too upset if Adama Traore leaves the club in the near future.

What's happening with Traore at Wolves?

Traore made a bright start to the campaign as he received WhoScored game ratings of 8.27 and 8.31 for his performances against Leicester and Tottenham, respectively. This led to the latter club showing interest in him towards the end of the summer transfer window, but a move failed to materialise.

The 25-year-old continued to be one of Wolves' shining lights in early September, with his dribbling ability coming to the fore, but he was unable to get on the scoresheet, and he did not register an assist either.

Ahead of Wolves' final game in September against Southampton, Lage made a brave call to leave Traore out of his starting XI. The decision paid off as Wolves won 1-0 at St Mary's and Traore was left on the bench again this past weekend when Lage's men edged past Newcastle 2-1 to move up to 12th in the table.

What does Hatfield make of Traore being left out?

Hatfield has admitted that Traore brings something unique to Wolves' matches with his pace and dribbling being a major asset on the counter-attack. However, he has conceded that the Spaniard's final ball still lets him down, and is not something that the side have missed in their recent fixtures when he hasn't played from the start.

He went on to add that Wolves could now potentially look to cash in on the forward if they can get a respectable transfer fee for him.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT about whether fans would miss Traore if he exited Wolves, Hatfield said: “I’m sure they’ll miss the excitement when they see him beat three or four players, and pick up the ball and sprint toward the other end of the pitch, and carry that ball forward.

“But in terms of end product, he isn’t providing too much at the moment. There’s not too much to miss in that respect. If you get a good fee for him, maybe it will be seen as a good deal.”

Should Wolves look to sell Traore?

Traore looked to be at the top of his game in the opening few matches of the season, and it was not a major surprise that Wolves were keen to keep him rather than allowing him to leave for Spurs.

However, he has struggled to maintain that level of consistency in recent weeks, and Lage appears to have run out of patience with him for the moment.

Wolves reportedly wanted £50m for him at the end of the summer, and it now looks unrealistic that they could get that much for him either in January or next summer given that he is no longer a guaranteed starter for them.

Still, he is a fine player on his day, and they remain in a strong position to make a big profit on him considering they signed him for just £18m back in 2018. If a good offer comes in for Traore in the next few months, it may be best for both parties to part ways, to allow Traore to get regular football elsewhere, while Wolves can get a hefty transfer fee for him and reinvest that into making their squad stronger.
