Newcastle United finally have new owners.
Mike Ashley had owned the club since 2007 but has been looking to sell his shares for the past few years.
He finally got his wish on Thursday evening after it was announced that a takeover of the club had been completed.
Newcastle's new owners are an investment group led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and also comprising PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media.
The group had been looking to do a deal for over a year and finally managed to seal the deal on Thursday.
The news has come as music to the ears of Newcastle fans all around the world.
Ashley is extremely unpopular among the club's fanbase and many have wanted him to leave for years.
So, when the takeover was finally announced on Thursday, it's no surprise that Newcastle fans were absolutely ecstatic.
Fans of the Premier League club were waiting outside St James' Park and they went ballistic when the deal was finally confirmed.
Among one of the chants that Newcastle fans sung included: 'We've got our club back'.
Fair to say Newcastle fans are relieved that Ashley has finally sold.
Newcastle are now the richest football club in the world, with their new owners believed to have a wealth of £320bn.
They have the money needed to compete on a global level and that's exactly what Amanda Staveley, Chief Executive Officer of PCP Capital Partners, intends to do.
In a statement on Newcastle's website, Staveley said: "This is a long-term investment. We are excited about the future prospects for Newcastle United.
