Yaya Toure: Video of Man City icon shows he's one of football's best midfielders ever

Yaya Toure in action for Manchester City

Yaya Toure was an incredible footballer.

The Ivorian became a household name during his three-season stint with Barcelona.

But it was at Manchester City where Toure emerged as a truly world-class midfielder.

Toure was dominant during his time at the Citizens.

In an eight-season spell, the all-action midfielder scored 79 times in 316 games. He also helped the club to seven trophies, including three Premier League titles.

He was a lot more than just goals, though. He had excellent technical ability, was quick, was as strong as an ox and could also contribute defensively.

However, despite his brilliance, Toure doesn’t tend to be one of the first names fans think of when attempting to name the best midfielder in Premier League history.

A video has gone viral which shows that he very much deserves to be in the conversation.

It’s about time that Toure gets the respect he deserves.

The word underrated is thrown around a lot but in Toure’s case it is applicable.

He was a joy to watch and was undoubtedly one of the best midfielders of his generation.

His time at Man City ended on a sour note as he fell out with Pep Guardiola, but that shouldn’t take away from the fact he is one of the best players the Premier League has ever seen.
