Xherdan Shaqiri could be headed for Italy, Talksport claims, with the Arsenal and Manchester City target fielding interest from AC Milan and Napoli.

Shaqiri has starred for Basel since the winger signed to the club in 2009, and after scoring 12 goals in 72 appearances, he has attracted interest from numerous European sides.

Arsenal and City have both been connected to the star on more than one occasion, while Tottenham are also said to be interested in bringing the 20-year-old on board.

Shaqiri fits in well with Arsenal’s youth policy, but at £15 million, Arsene Wenger has been hesitant over whether he is worth the big money fee.

City, meanwhile, are not so concerned with paying a high fee for Shaqiri, and have sent multiple scouts to watch the youngster in action in the Swiss domestic league.

Both Arsenal and City were particularly impressed when Shaqiri scored a hat-trick against a Euro 2012 qualifier for Switzerland against Bulgaria.

But Napoli and AC Milan are both reportedly at the stage where they’re preparing bids for Shaqiri, putting Arsenal and City on alert to act quickly if they want to tie the starlet down.
