The relationship between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho was a difficult one. Upon the Frenchman's return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2016 as Manchester United turned to Jose Mourinho in order to restore former glories, they looked like the perfect partnership. One of the most dominant midfielders in Europe was linking up with a serial winner, a man who had taken the likes of Frank Lampard and Michael Essien to new heights, as the club attempted to finally move on from Sir Alex Ferguson. XboxENTER GIVEAWAYWhile their first season was successful, Pogba appeared to become a lightning rod for unfair criticism as the Mourinho reign dragged on. Granted, his performances weren't always up to par but the idea that he was nothing more than a prima donna started to emerge more frequently as the two fell out. That situation came to a head in 2018, during the final months of Mourinho's United spell. In September of that year, Sky Sports cameras caught Pogba turning up for training under Mourinho's watchful eye. As you can see in the video below, the midfielder shakes hands with Michael Carrick before the Portuguese boss says something that forces Pogba to double take.

After the event, The Guardian claimed Mourinho had been perturbed by the timing of an Instagram post from Pogba's account that showed him laughing alongside Luke Shaw and Andreas Pereira while sat in the stands during a Carabao Cup loss to Derby County.

The issue is believed to have been the strength of the wifi in the stadium. At the time of posting, United had not yet lost the game, though it only uploaded fully an hour later, making the situation seem a lot worse.

Incredibly awkward scenes at the club's Carrington training base.
