The epic rivalry between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder saw its third instalment on Saturday night - and the pair more than lived up to the pre-fight hype as they engaged in an all-out war at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Ultimately, it was the Gypsy King who prevailed in a bout for the ages, finally ending Wilder's stubborn resistance with a massive right hand in the 11th round to retain his WBC heavyweight championship.

It was far from plain sailing for the Brit, though.

Fury defeated Wilder by stoppage in their second fight 20 months ago - which followed on from a draw in their initial meeting in December 2018 - and looked primed to do the same again when he dropped the American in the third round of their trilogy bout.

Wilder managed to regain his feet but appeared very unsteady for the remainder of the round, which he did well to survive.

The Bronze Bomber then showed why he can never be counted out by sensationally flooring Fury twice in the fourth round with his trademark right hand. In truth, these were shots that would have finished off most contenders in the division.

Fury, however, had already shown his ability to withstand Wilder's incredible power in their first fight - and did so again here. The Morecambe-based giant shook off both knockdowns, continuing to hunt his opponent down as the bout progressed.

The defending champion was on top for much of the rest of the fight. With that said, Wilder always carries a knockout threat and threatened to spring a come-from-behind victory on a number of occasions, despite seemingly being out on his feet.

The Alabama native hit the deck for a third time in the 10th round, before Fury sealed a famous triumph in the following session.

Wilder swiftly left the ring after the bout and was later transported to hospital as a precaution. Even after taking part in such a gruelling encounter, though, Fury was in his usual jovial mood - and was delighted to spot former unified heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis backstage.

During the middle of a post-fight interview with The Lowdown’s Dev Sahni, Fury locks eyes with his fellow Brit off-camera

"Lennox Lewis, baby! Come on Lennox, get in here," Fury bellows, before the two men warmly greet each other.

The 56-year-old Lewis, who enjoyed two reigns as the division's unified king between 1999 and his retirement in 2003, then gives a glowing assessment of Fury's performance.

Unbelievable, great fight man, says Lewis, echoing the thoughts of millions around the world.  "You showed great heart, great resilience and great IQ."

"You can't go swimming and not get wet, reasons Fury in response. "If you play with fire long enough, you'll get burned! Hell of a punch on him [Wilder], though."

It's clear to see that Lewis' endorsement means a lot to Fury. You can check out the exchange between two of Britain's greatest ever heavyweights below.

After parting company with Lewis, Fury is asked what it will take to beat him after such an extraordinary fight.

Tyson, speaking in the third person, replies: "Nail him to the canvas with 52-inch nails. Apart from that, he ain't gonna get beat!"

Following the events of Saturday night, it's getting tougher to argue with that assessment.
