It'd be fair to say that Jadon Sancho hasn't exactly enjoyed the best year of his career in 2021.

Still, such are the high standards the 21-year-old has set during his relatively short time of things so far, a DFB Pokal win and a run to the final of the European Championships - along with a £73m transfer to one of the world's leading clubs - are easily forgotten.

Indeed, the England star suffered with injury during the closing stages of his time at Borussia Dortmund and he was not afforded much in the way of a look in at Euro 2020. So far at Manchester United, things are truly yet to get going.

Perhaps then, his performance for Gareth Southgate's side against Andorra on Saturday can prove to be the catalyst for change.

Granted, naysayers will point to the quality of opposition but players need to start building form from somewhere and the manner in which Sancho ripped apart the opposition was befitting of a player of his stature.

After all, looking at some of the defending in the Premier League so far this season, it's not as if he's constantly going up against the prime AC Milan defence of the 1980s on a weekly basis.

One supporter has compiled a highlights video and you can watch it below.

Providing the assist for Ben Chilwell's opener as well as Tammy Abraham's, Sancho was a threat all evening and even left his marker (a 41-year-old Ildefons Lima) with a hamstring injury, an ailment that forced him out of the game despite only coming on in the 31st minute himself.

Clearly, there's a lot of work to do to get Sancho firing for United but, by the same measure, there's an awful lot to work with too.

Life may have started slowly at Old Trafford. Don't expect that to continue.
