The Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield believes that West Brom midfielder Alex Mowatt would be a good fit for Leeds United under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa.
Mowatt came through Leeds' youth system and made 125 appearances for the club before Garry Monk allowed him to join Barnsley in 2017.

Now at West Brom after arriving at the Hawthorns in the summer, the 26-year-old has been grabbing the headlines in the Midlands for his stunning long-range shooting.
The central midfielder has already found the back of the net on three occasions in the Championship this term, and two of those strikes have been sensational hits from outside the penalty area against Blackburn and Cardiff.
According to WhoScored, he has been the Baggies' fourth-best player this season, earning an average match rating of 7.24 for Valerien Ismael's men.

Given that Mowatt is flying in the Championship, it could be argued that Leeds made a mistake in letting him go four years ago.
Hatfield feels that he was perhaps not ready to make an impact at Elland Road at that stage of his career, though, but has admitted that Mowatt could be flourishing under Bielsa right now if he was still on Leeds' books.
When asked how Mowatt would be doing at Leeds if he stuck around, Hatfield said: “It was an interesting one that, because he’s got a fantastic engine, offers real quality in midfield. I just think it was maybe right place, wrong time for him at Leeds. It’s a massive club, no disrespect to Albion but Leeds is a huge club. Elland Road is a fantastic place to play football, but yeah, under Bielsa he'd probably fit in pretty well.
“I don’t know what he’d be like in terms of Premier League football. Yet to see him in the Premier League, so, you have to caveat it with that. But he seems like a player who would fit in well under that kind of system where you’re asked to do a lot of work.”

Could Mowatt make an impact in this Leeds team?
Mowatt was just 22 when he left Leeds, so it was fair to say he was some way off his peak at that point. He has now blossomed into a high-quality operator who looks to be capable of playing at the highest level.
18 months ago, some may have doubted whether Kalvin Phillips and Stuart Dallas could make the jump up to the Premier League. They have answered their critics in emphatic fashion, with Phillips now an established international, while Dallas scored eight top-flight goals last term.
Bielsa tends to get the very best out of his players, especially those in the middle of the park, and it seems likely that he would be able to get the most out of Mowatt as well if he took him under his wing.
