Arsenal face a battle to sign Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo after the Spanish club revealed he still has a future with the club reports talkSPORT.

The 22-year-old fell down the pecking order at the Mestalla, but an injury to Sergio Canales - who has been ruled out for up to six months - looks to have given Parejo a reprieve with Valencia boss Unai Emery.

Having been heavily linked with a move in the January transfer window, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger emerged as the leading contender for his signature as he looks to continue his recruitment drive at the Emirates Stadium.

The void left by the summer sale of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri has been temporarily filled with the signing of Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun, but it is expected that Arsenal will continue to strengthen their midfield ranks.

However, news that Valencia will now look to keep Parejo means that the Gunners may have to consider alternative options, at least until Canales recovers from his latest injury setback.
