Anton Ferdinand has praised QPR manager Neil Warnock’s style after the Hoops defeated Chelsea 1-0 at the weekend, with the defender insisting that while Warnock’s methods are not traditional, his fruits are showing as the side stand up to the biggest teams in the top-tier.

QPR were promoted to the Barclays Premier League at the end of last season, and after getting new owners in August, the club signed big names Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips to stake their claim on the league.

And Ferdinand believes that the club’s start, which has seen QPR land in mid-table with 12 points from nine matches, shows that Warnock knows what he’s doing.

"It was a really fine win over Chelsea. It was our first victory against our biggest rivals for many, many years and that's a great achievement for the club as a whole,” he explained.

"Playing under a manager who wants the best for you and at the same time wants to get the best out of you goes a long way in football. It really helps.

"I think everyone can see I'm enjoying my football. I was pleased with my own performance against Chelsea.

"The gaffer has been brilliant since the day I arrived at the club. He makes every one of the lads go out on the pitch feeling ten feet tall.

"He gives us all great confidence and that's the key in the Premier League. If you're not confident in the Premier League then there's no point in playing.

"When you've got a manager who gives you that confidence and does it with such ease, you're already half way there."

QPR face Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday, and the side will be relying on that confidence to push them over the line while Spurs fight for a top four spot.
