UFC’s Mackenzie Dern has issued a statement following her loss to Marina Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night/UFC Vegas 39, but who will she be fighting next?

The Strawweight division contender was hoping to move further up the ranks to a potential Title fight against Rose Namajunas.

Here’s what Dern had to say following her loss in the main event of UFC Fight Night.

Despite gaining the Fight of The Night accolades, Dern lost to Rodriguez with the latter earning a 49-46 unanimous decision victory. Dern said of the loss in Instagram: “Thank you everyone for all the support! Yesterday wasn’t the result I was training for, but this fight is the biggest learning experience for me!

“Now I have a lot to look back on and fix to become a better fighter! For sure a submission would have been great but to have these rounds for me to work on is such a blessing!

“Congrats Marina for the win! I hope you guys enjoyed the fight and thanks Dana White for the FOTN.”

Several notable names on the UFC roster took to social media to congratulate both Dern and Rodriguez following the fight, with Women’s GOAT Amanda Nunes writing: “Awesome fight girls, congrats.”

UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling also reacted to the contest, writing “Some feints would’ve done Dern well in this fight. Too much chasing and predictable attacks for Rodriguez to read and cut angles out of danger. Fun fight still. Both ladies showed some serious threats in both their worlds of experience.”
