UFC Fight Night: When Is MacKenzie Dern’s Next Fight?

Here is when MacKenzie Dern is fighting next

UFC’s Mackenzie Dern has issued a statement following her loss to Marina Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night/UFC Vegas 39, but who will she be fighting next?

The Strawweight division contender was hoping to move further up the ranks to a potential Title fight against Rose Namajunas.

Here’s what Dern had to say following her loss in the main event of UFC Fight Night.

Despite gaining the Fight of The Night accolades, Dern lost to Rodriguez with the latter earning a 49-46 unanimous decision victory. Dern said of the loss in Instagram: “Thank you everyone for all the support! Yesterday wasn’t the result I was training for, but this fight is the biggest learning experience for me!

“Now I have a lot to look back on and fix to become a better fighter! For sure a submission would have been great but to have these rounds for me to work on is such a blessing!

“Congrats Marina for the win! I hope you guys enjoyed the fight and thanks Dana White for the FOTN.”

Several notable names on the UFC roster took to social media to congratulate both Dern and Rodriguez following the fight, with Women’s GOAT Amanda Nunes writing: “Awesome fight girls, congrats.”

UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling also reacted to the contest, writing “Some feints would’ve done Dern well in this fight. Too much chasing and predictable attacks for Rodriguez to read and cut angles out of danger. Fun fight still. Both ladies showed some serious threats in both their worlds of experience.”

UFC Octagon

Who Is MacKenzie Dern Fighting Next?

At this point, it is not clear who the Strawweight fighter will be facing next in the division.

There are however a number of candidates as to who could be standing across from the octagon from Dern when she next enters the cage.

The most likely candidate for a step-back fight for Dern would be Michelle Waterson. Waterson is a strong candidate as although she could probably outmanoeuvre Dern whilst standing, Dern would be able to overwhelm her on the mat, should she gain a takedown.

We’re a long way off UFC sanctioning the fight, but Dern vs Waterson looks like the most likely option going forward.

We will update this page as and when the UFC confirms who Dern will be fighting against next inside of the Octagon.
