Wolves' lightweight squad is still a cause for concern among the club's fans, according to journalist Luke Hatfield.

The Premier League outfit made six signings in the summer, but Hatfield believes the team still have issues with regards to squad depth.

Who did Wolves sign this summer?

Wolves brought in four players on permanent deals in the recent transfer window, including paying a touch under £10m for wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

They also made two loan transfers, and one of these, Hee-chan Hwang, is arguably their best addition, based on his performances so far this term. The forward has scored three times in his first four Premier League appearances, bagging a brace in his latest outing against Newcastle.

Overall, Wolves spent over £23m on players as they look to improve on their 13th-place finish from last season.

What has Hatfield said about Wolves' squad?

Despite adding six new names to their ranks, Hatfield feels that Wolves would have wanted to do more in the market, and he has claimed that the club's supporters are worried that the squad is not strong enough.

Speaking about the matter to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “It’s an interesting one because that Wolves squad is still very lightweight in terms of actual squad depth, have they still got enough? That’ll be the question that a lot of Wolves fans are asking.

“It’s a lot of questions that a lot of other football fans are asking of that squad because we expected them to bolster quite a bit in the window, and they didn’t quite manage to bolster as much as they would have liked.”

Should Wolves fans be worried?

The side appear to be on an upwards curve at the moment, having won three of their last four top-flight matches. This has lifted them to 12th in the table, six points clear of the bottom three.

Their recent performances have suggested that they could be capable of pushing for a top half finish this term.

However, they do also look short of options in a couple of key areas of the pitch. They did not sign any central midfielders in the summer, meaning that they remain reliant on an ageing Joao Moutinho, while they also only added one central defender, Yerson Mosquera, who is currently sidelined through injury.

If Wolves start to pick up more injuries in these positions, their squad could be stretched, and this could have a negative impact on results moving forwards.
