Journalist Adam White has revealed the main weakness of West Ham target Mohamed Bayo's game.

The 23-year-old currently plays for Clermont Foot in Ligue 1, and has had a fantastic start to the 2021/22 season.

What's the latest news involving Bayo?

Bayo had never played in France's top-flight prior to this term, but his performances have not shown his lack of experience.

The striker has scored five goals and provided two assists in his eight Ligue 1 appearances to date. This included finding the net in each of his final two matches before the international break against Monaco and Lorient.

His exploits have caught the eye of West Ham, who are reportedly monitoring him. The Irons may have some competition for his signature, though, as Brighton are also keen on the 6 foot 2 attacker.

What did White say about Bayo?

White has been impressed by Bayo thus far, but has claimed that he can still be more clinical in front of goal.

When asked to highlight any flaws that Bayo currently has by GIVEMESPORT, the Get French Football News writer said that the forward is: “Occasionally, a little bit erratic. He might need a couple of chances sometimes, and Clermont create a lot of chances. But it’s sort of one of the things that’s improving, and he’s certainly a capable finisher.”

Is Bayo similar to any former Premier League strikers?

Bayo has been compared to former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, who was a formidable force during his three-and-a-half year stay on Merseyside.

The Uruguayan scored 82 goals and 133 matches for the Reds, and played a starring role in taking them to the brink of the Premier League title in 2013/14. He found the net 31 times in the top-flight that year on his way to earning the PFA Player of the Year award.

The 34-year-old has since gone on to win five La Liga titles with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, as well as the Champions League in 2015 with the Catalan giants.

Clearly, Bayo, who is valued at €10m (£8.5m) by Transfermarkt, has a lot to live up to if he is to come anywhere close to replicating the career that Suarez has had.

Still, it should be pointed out that Suarez was somewhat of a late bloomer, as he did not get his move to Liverpool until shortly after his 24th birthday. Bayo has also taken his time to make it to the highest level, but now at 23, he seems to be finding his feet, and he may also get to dazzle in the Premier League like Suarez did in the not-too-distant future.
