Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder's trilogy fight went down in Las Vegas on Saturday, and it was eventful, to say the least.
The mind games started before the ring walks when an issue with Wilder’s gloves delayed the fight, but did that phase Tyson? Absolutely not, he was the calmest man in place.
As Fury was waiting for Wilder, he was keeping himself and everyone else entertained with a bit of air guitar, showing he was not going to be put off by any mind games or tricks. He looked calm and ready to put the American behind him once and for all.
Both fighters then made their very extravagant ring walks and the bell sounded for the start of the fight. Fortunately, we only had to wait until round 3 for something significant to happen.
Fury connected with a right and put Wilder down, before he was then hit with another one-two and seemed to be all over the place before being saved by the bell.
Then came round 4, Wilder looked exhausted and out on his feet, but managed to land a big right to put the Gypsy King down. Fury got himself back up before the count, but Wilder was seeking the finish, dropping the Brit once more a few seconds later. Fortunately for the champion, though, he managed to last the round.
Some very solid rounds followed with Fury taking the majority of them, but the big breakthrough came in the 10th. Fury landed a huge right and put Wilder down for a second time, although the Bronze Bomber got straight back to his feet and even had Fury hurt at the end of the round.
Fury came out in the following round and landed some heavy punches with Wilder taking some serious punishment and looking to be out on his feet.
Fury then landed a huge right which put Wilder flat out on the canvas and there was no coming back from that. The referee waved off the fight immediately and Fury won via 11th-round KO in a definite contender for 2021’s Fight of the Year.
Following the fight, Fury attempted to console Wilder, but he wanted no part of it, saying he was not going to show any respect or sportsmanship towards him.
