Carmella may brand herself as The Most Beautiful in all of WWE, but in her latest Instagram post she has revealed how online abuse has made her feel about her self image.

The majority of Carmella's social media content features snaps from glamorous photoshoots or official WWE shots.

But she changed it up in one of her most recent posts to hit back at social media trolls.

Posing in a filter-free, no-makeup selfie, the SmackDown star has admitted the online abuse she has been receiving has reached an all-time high and – it's something that has seriously affected her.

"It’s been a while since I’ve posted a no makeup, non-filtered selfie," she captioned the photo. "Do I love getting dressed up and having my hair and makeup done? Yes! But a majority of my time is spent in sweats with no makeup on my face and my hair in a bun..that’s MY reality most of the time. So I need to do better with being real with you all on here.

Carmella Instagram post

"To be completely honest, being on Instagram and Twitter recently has been hard. The hate and the threats are at an all time high, it’s quite disturbing actually. I usually just try to post and leave it alone, but it’s hard to NOT read the negativity sometimes. Y’all can be so cruel.

"Luckily, I know who I am. I’m not going to let you get to me. I just wanted to post this as a friendly reminder not to believe everything you read and see on the internet. Do you, for you."

More than 79,000 people have liked Carmella's post and hundreds of positive replies have flooded the comments section.

Carmella WWE

Fellow WWE wrestlers Natalya and Nikki A.S.H have shown their support for their colleague, as well as Impact Wrestling star Jessica McKay, who wrote: "Gorgeous inside and out."

Former WWE commentator Renee Paquette also wrote: "Love you girl. And love this message. It’s insane that anyone participates in this toxicity."

Carmella's message joins many other sportspeople who are trying to make the world a kinder place by tackling online abuse and advocating for mental health awareness.

Carmella was last in action for WWE on the latest instalment of Friday Night SmackDown. She defeated Liv Morgan in their quarter-final Queen's Crown match.
