Petr Yan will be facing Cory Sandhagen for the UFC Interim Bantamweight TItle at UFC 267, but why is there an Interim title fight taking place?

Yan will be hoping to regain his Championship after losing the title to Aljamain Sterling back at UFC 259 in May after throwing an illegal knee to his downed opponent.

Here is everything you need to know about the Interim Bantamweight Title fight at UFC 267 on Saturday October 30th from Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

Sterling was originally expected to be defending his title at the UFC 267 event against Yan in a rematch from their contest in May.

The original fight ended in what some would call controversy, as the knee thrown by Yan was clearly an illegal move, but some fans believe that Sterling ‘milked’ an injury after the blow and caused the disqualification to be called.

What didn’t help matters was that Yan was clearly winning the fight before hitting the knee, but the actual DQ that was called by the referee was the correct call, but the controversial scenes following the contest meant that fans wanted to see the rematch.
