Arsenal latest news: £31.5m international is starting to dominate games for Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta showing his delight after Arsenal's north London derby win

Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard has made clear improvements to his game this season, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The Norwegian international spent the second half of last term on loan at the Emirates, before joining permanently for £31.5m in the summer.

What's the latest news involving Odegaard?

There was some doubt over whether Arsenal would be able to convince Odegaard to return to England this season, or if he would remain with Real Madrid, but the Gunners got their man in the end.

After missing the first two games of the campaign, he has started each of the team's last five Premier League fixtures, and scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Burnley last month.

That is his only top-flight goal contribution since returning to Arsenal, but Brown has liked what he has seen from Odegaard in general play.

What has Brown said about Odegaard?

The Daily Star journalist feels that Odegaard is now beginning to influence games more regularly than he was during his initial loan spell.

Referring to Odegaard's progression in recent times, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he’s really started to look quite good. Even times last season, when he was on loan, he really impressed. There were other times when he disappeared a little bit from games, but he’s become much more dominant, much more involved in everything.”

How long is Odegaard's contract at Arsenal?

Odegaard has already started to take positive steps since rejoining Arsenal less than two months ago, and this rapid development bodes well for the future.

His contract runs until 2025, and it is easy to forget that he is still only 22 years of age, so he has plenty of time to get even better. Having made noticeable improvements over the past few weeks, it is hard to imagine how good he could become in the next four years in north London.

Who was the most expensive Arsenal signing of 2021?

Add into the mix that Arsenal also have some other young rising stars in their team such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, and there can be little doubt that Mikel Arteta is building an exciting side right now, at least from an attacking perspective.

Playing alongside talents of a similar age, Odegaard appears to have every chance of kicking on over the coming years and becoming one of the best creative midfielders in the division.
