Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a £20 million bid for Neven Subotic, according to ClubCall, with the defender set for a move to Old Trafford next summer.

Subotic is hot property throughout European football, with the centre back making 106 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and starring in both the Bundesliga and the Champions league.

Manchester United have long being admirers of Subotic, with Ferguson strongly connected to the 22-year-old over the last summer transfer window.

While Chelsea reportedly had a £17 million bid turned down for Subotic’s signature, United are hoping that £20 million is enough to turn Dortmund’s head as they consider selling one of their most prized possessions.

United are desperate to build on their defensive line up after the side went down to Manchester City 6-1 just over a week ago, and Ferguson reportedly sees Subotic as the perfect mixture of experience and potential as he chases the star.
