Didier Drogba: Chelsea icon proved he's still got it with hat-trick goal for Marseille Legends

Didier Drogba has certainly still got it!

Didier Drogba may have retired from professional football in 2018, but the Ivorian proved he's still got it in a charity match on Wednesday evening.

The Chelsea icon was part of a Marseille Legends outfit that took on Arsene Wenger's Team UNICEF at the Orange Velodrome.

Alongside the likes of Robert Pires, Samir Nasri, Benoit Cheyrou and other big names, Drogba scored a hat-trick to help his side achieve a 7-4 victory on the night.

The striker opened the scoring for Marseille Legends and was then on hand to level the scores at 2-2 just before the hour mark.

Then in the 76th-minute of the match, Drogba notched his hat-trick and the third goal by the 43-year-old was undoubtedly the best of the bunch.

The ball fell to him on the edge of the box and like we saw the great man do so many times in a Chelsea shirt, he rifled it into the corner while giving the goalkeeper no chance of saving it.

Drogba turning back the clock and then performing his iconic celebration in front of the fans? That's just great content right there.

The Ivorian is absolutely adored in the city of Marseille after his incredible, yet short, spell at the club prior to joining Chelsea in the summer of 2004.

In the 2003/04 campaign, Drogba scored 32 goals in 55 games across all competitions, with 11 of those strikes coming in Champions League and Europa League action.

The two-time African Footballer of the Year then swapped Marseille for west London, where he evolved into one of the greatest strikers in history.

Drogba scored goals for fun in a Chelsea shirt and famously netted the penalty that won the English club their first Champions League trophy in 2012.

He really is a legend and we hope to see him feature in as many charity matches as possible in the coming years.
