Tommy Fury is on the verge of securing a financially-lucrative showdown with Jake Paul, according to the Brit's father John Fury.

The Love Island star has been on the hunt for the YouTuber-turned-boxer since beating Anthony Taylor back in August.

Earlier this year he accused the 24-year-old of trying to 'cause ruffles on social media to get his name out there', saying: "He's a YouTuber who has done very well for himself but he's trying to gimmick the boxing."

Tommy has returned home from Las Vegas after attending his brother Tyson's trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder on Saturday night but John says the crossover bout is '99.9 per cent' done.

"We're nearly there with the business side of it with Jake Paul, they're being greedy, but like I say, we know our worth, we want as much as we can out of this job," Fury Sr exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.

"But we're nearly there, this fight is going to happen, we're 99.9 per cent of the way there.

"It's almost done, we've just got a few T's to cross and I's to dot and we're nearly there over the line, but it will happen. Will Tommy beat Jake Paul? Absolutely.

Tommy Fury is the younger brother of Tyson Fury

"He's a silly man because believe me, like Jake Paul is saying, if Tommy lost to Jake Paul, he would have to change his name to 'Tommy Fumbles'.

"Plus Tyson would batter him, Hughie would batter him, Shane would batter him, and we would retire him from boxing there and then, so there's no pressure really!

"But I'm ultra confident Tommy smashes Jake Paul to pieces because people shouldn't read too much into Tommy's American debut.

"He never had a team over there, they were all rookies under Jorge.

"The Americans do things differently, it takes Tommy a bit of time to adjust to them, but let me tell you; if I'd been there, he would have stopped the other kid in two rounds.

"But let me tell you, the right people will be there with Tommy on the night, i.e. Tyson, Shane, people who understand boxing, who he's familiar with."

He's a professional boxer like his big brother

Paul has already warned Fury he will have to change his name if he loses, only to be told he also faces a forfeit if he loses.

The American has caused a bit of a stir online by opting to step inside the ring while calling out some of the biggest names in the world of boxing and MMA

When asked what he had made of Paul's comments, John replied: "Ridiculous, just like Deontay Wilder. Jake Paul is sounding like Deontay Wilder mentioning stuff like that.

"He wants to forget that because people will just lose respect for him if they haven't done so already.

"Calling out pound-for-pound greats... Behave yourself. He's a YouTuber.

"After Tommy's dealt with him, he won't be calling nobody else out, let's put it that way.

"He's going to have to have 'Tommy Fury' tattooed on his tongue forever."

Talks have intensified since the end of August when Paul won a split decision against Tyron Woodley on the same night as Fury outworked Taylor.

But Tommy has suggested those offers 'weren’t even worth addressing', warning Paul that he needs to put his money where his mouth is or watch the plans go out the window.

John has since doubled up on those claims, saying: "That's what Tommy wants. Plus, he's said he's going to give him half a million pounds more - get your pen out and write that cheque.

"He'll have 'Tommy Fury' tattooed on his tongue forever and he's paying half a million pounds more as well.

"Tommy will change his name to 'Tommy Fumbles' if he loses, plus he'll get battered off me, Tyson, Hughie and every member of my family, so like I say, no pressure.

"I always said I would make a great fighter out of him and he is only 22."
