He’s started every match for the club since but, a scan during the international break showed he needed arthroscopy, a type of keyhole surgery on his wrist.

It’s now believed he will be sidelined for around 10 weeks as he recovers.

That’s the cost of saving a Salah penalty…

Milan have signed 38-year-old goalkeeper Antonio Mirante on a free transfer in response.

Maignan was snapped up by the Italian club from Lille in the summer after Gianluigi Donnarumma had left San Siro for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

He’s impressed immensely since his arrival with the club unbeaten in their first seven Serie A matches.

However, he will now have to watch on from the sidelines with Ciprian Tatarasanu set to replace him.

Maignan will be hoping to be fit for Milan’s home clash against Liverpool on December 7. Although you won’t blame him if he didn’t relish facing Salah again anytime soon.
