Paul Lambert is ready to add to his Norwich City squad in the New Year, in order to help consolidate the club's strong start to the Barclays Premier League campaign.

Currently sitting in eighth spot in the table, the Canaries have impressed upon their return to the top-flight, but the manager insists he will not rest on his laurels and has refused to rule out making further signings when the transfer window reopens.

"January has been spoken about; we might need a hand - it can give you a lift," Lambert told the Norwich Evening News.

"We made a decision at the start that we would bring in lads we roughly knew, until we got a foothold and then see what happens."

The majority of arrivals at Carrow Road in the summer were British-based players, with little-to-no experience of playing in the Barclays Premier League.

Lambert explained that he had concerns over signing overseas players because it often takes them longer to settle in a new country and culture, and the faith shown in the new, home-grown contingent, is so far paying dividends.

"I needed lads who I knew and who knew the British game," he added. "It helps them get to know each other.

"If you're a foreign lad coming into a dressing room, I know from experience it can take you a little bit to get used to a different culture and a different way.

"We have to try and be in and around it in January. If we can add to it then we will, but that's a lot easier said than done because you tend to find prices go sky high in January. But we need a hand."
