Despite reports earlier this year suggesting otherwise, The Rock is not going to be returning to WWE next month.

With The Rock having debuted for WWE at Survivor Series 1996, reports had indicated that WWE was hoping to have this year's Survivor Series celebrate 25 years since Rock's first appearance.

That won't be happening, however, as the Mat Men podcast is reporting that The Rock is going to be in Australia and won't be able to make the show.

The report notes that WWE is going to mention The Rock during the show, and while he may appear in video form, he won't be at the Barclays Center in-person.

“Little update on The Rock – he is apparently in Australia during Survivor Series. Now does that mean that he won’t be doing something at Survivor Series? They’re definitely gonna mention it. They’re definitely gonna talk about it. There will be maybe a video appearance or something that’s planned. But he’s not gonna be there.

The appearance at Survivor Series would have also set up at WrestleMania 38 match between The Rock and Roman Reigns, but reports suggest that the match also won't be happening next year.

While some in WWE want it to happen at WrestleMania 38, the report notes that the focus is being shifted towards booking the match for WrestleMania 39 in Hollywood in 2023:

It really looks like the focus has shifted to moving a Roman/Rock match to LA (WrestleMania 39 in 2023). I’ll say it this way – there are people that are adamant that it needs to take place in Los Angeles. They’re adamant. There are certain people that say, ‘No, this match should not happen at Dallas (WrestleMania 38 in 2022), it should happen in LA.

The Rock has been in the news lately with an in-depth interview he did with Vanity where he refused to completely rule out running for President, which you can read more about by clicking here.
