Emmet Gates has suggested Mohamed Salah's footballing peak is unlikely to come to an abrupt end anytime son.

The journalist tipped Liverpool's star striker to continue producing 'Cristiano Ronaldo numbers' well into his mid-30s.

What's the latest news involving Mohamed Salah?

Last month, Salah became the fifth-fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals, hitting the milestone in just 162 appearances.

The achievement has encapsulated the Egypt international's thrilling start to the new season, having netted six goals in seven Premier League outings to move to joint-top of the division's scoring charts.

Salah finished last term with an impressive 22 goals but he seems even deadlier this season and if he keeps his current rate up, he'll have a real chance of breaking his own record for most goals in a 38-goal Premier League campaign.

Set in 2017/18, the record stands at 32 strikes

For all of Salah's impressive form this season, however, the former Roma man is now 29 years of age, and there are inevitable questions over how much longer he can continue performing at his current level.

Journalist Gates, however, believes Salah's time at the top of the game by no means near its expiration.

What has Emmet Gates said about Mohamed Salah's goalscoring?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Gates described Salah's current scoring rate as 'Ronaldo numbers', before insisting the Reds talisman could continue producing at that level until the age the Manchester United legend is now - 36.

That gives Salah another seven years of scoring with world-class regularity, although Gates did warn that any serious injuries could well affect that.

He told GMS: "You look at Salah and think he's a supreme athlete and there's no reason why he can't continue Ronaldo numbers until the age Ronaldo is now. Barring he gets a serious injury or two, there is undoubtedly another four or five years of Salah at his peak."

How does Mohamed Salah compare to Cristiano Ronaldo?

A return of nine goals in as many appearances across all competitions so far this season definitely qualifies as 'Ronaldo numbers'. His first season at Anfield - when Salah notched 44 in 52 - would fall into that bracket as well.

That being said, Ronaldo actually ended his Real Madrid career with more goals than appearances while he scored 101 in 134 for Juventus. Prior to this season, Salah hadn't scored more than 22 Premier League goals in three consecutive campaigns.

As good as Salah's been this season, for him to produce 'Ronaldo numbers' up until the age of 36, he would arguably need to find not only a greater consistency in front of goal, but arguably a higher level of netting prowess as well.

We've certainly seen the latter in the early stages of the campaign, but how long Salah can keep it up for remains to be seen.
