We are now a couple of months into the 2021/22 domestic season around Europe - and the majority of the 'big-five' leagues on the continent look set to be fiercely contested this term.

Paris Saint Germain's star-studded squad have already opened up a noticeable gap at the summit of Ligue 1. Elsewhere, though, things are much tighter as some of the world's top players compete for bragging rights in their respective competitions.

Transfermarkt regularly updates player market values throughout the season and have recently released revised figures for those competing around Europe following the early stages of the current campaign.

Which league has the most valuable combined XI in Europe?

As part of their update process, the football data site has unveiled the most valuable combined line-ups for each of Europe's 'big-five' leagues - and we take a look at the results below.

Serie A (£527.4m)

Analysis: Serie A might boast the lowest combined total of all of the leagues featured here, but there's still some serious talent on show.

Individually, Inter striker Lautaro Martínez leads the way in terms of his perceived cash value (£67.7m). However, Matthijs de Ligt, Federico Chiesa and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic each clock in at a considerable £59.3m each.

La Liga (£601m)

Analysis: Only three Barcelona players make the La Liga XI this time around. With that said, the Blaugrana can still boast the two of the three top-valued players currently plying their trade in Spain.

Midfield duo Frenkie de Jong (£76.2m) and Pedri (£67.8m) each rank highly, with only Atletico's Marcos Llorente for company.

Diego Simeone's men boss the XI overall, however, with five representatives in the line-up - worth a combined £280m.

Surprisingly, only Ferland Mendy (£42.3m), makes the cut from Real Madrid.

Bundesliga (£620.5m)

Analysis: The title of the most valuable player in the German top-flight predictably goes to prolific Dortmund frontman Erling Haaland. A £16.9m uplift sees the estimated worth of the Norwegian rise to £127m.

That astronomical figure means the 21-year-old is now considered more valuable alone than more than half the squads in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich ranks next in terms of his price tag (£76.2m). The gulf of more than £50m between the pair illustrates just how highly-rated Haaland truly is.

Haaland's Dortmund teammate Jude Bellingham is another to have seen his value rise considerably. The England midfielder saw his own number jump by £12.7m, giving him a market value today of close to £60m.

Despite now being 33, Bayern's Ballon d'Or contender Robert Lewandowski retains an impressive value of just over £50m.

Ligue 1 (£639.1m)

Analysis: As you might expect, this graphic has a heavy Parisian influence. With PSG players contributing a staggering £580m of value between them (including a front-three of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar worth close to £288m), Ligue 1 has - by far - the most uneven distribution of talent across the leagues features.

Premier League (£808.4m)

Analysis: Including no less than five players estimated to be worth at least €100m, the Premier League blows away the competition here. Man City's Jack Grealish is the latest to reach that mark, having seen his value increased by almost £30m since his summer switch from Aston Villa.

It is Harry Kane who takes the mantle as the English top-flight's most valuable star, though, with the Spurs striker estimated to be worth £101.6m

Premier League quiz: Who is the highest-paid player at all 20 clubs in 2021/22?

The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes aren't far behind either.

On top of that wealth of attacking talent, the Premier League can also boast Europe's most-prized back-four - weighing in at a combined estimated total of over £241m. Scary numbers!
