British tennis star Emma Raducanu has said she is "honoured" to be the namesake for a newborn baby.A Twitter user shared a heartwarming post about Raducanu, explaining how he and his wife decided to name their child Emma after watching the teenager triumph at the US Open last month."My daughter, Emma born on Sunday. She's absolutely perfect," the post read. "We named her after Emma Raducanu after my wife and I watched her win the US Open final last month! We both turned to each other as she won and said 'Emma's a nice name!'"The post has since gone viral and attracted the attention of Raducanu herself. The Brit replied to the tweet with the message: "Wow, I’m honoured! Huge congratulations to you. Wish you all the best."Baby Emma’s dad then responded to round off an incredibly moving Twitter exchange."Wow - we're chuffed to bits that you got back to us," he said. "You're not only an inspirational young sportswoman, you're also very kind. It would be great if she could meet you one day."

Astonishingly, another Twitter user replied and revealed she had also named her daughter after Raducanu.

"Snap! We named our daughter after Emma Raducanu too," she wrote. "I went in to hospital during the semi finals, and she was born the day after the final. Still in hospital a month later - showing the same fighting qualities as her namesake!"

The 18-year-old Raducanu made history when she defeated Canada’s Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 in the US Open final last month.

She became the first qualifier, male or female, to earn a Grand Slam title, and the first British woman to win a Grand Slam title since Virginia Wade in 1977. Raducanu made history in style, not dropping a single set on her way to victory.

Now ranked 22nd in the world, Raducanu recently crashed out of Indian Wells in the first round, losing to Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus.

She has pulled out of next week’s Kremlin Cup, citing a "tournament schedule change", but is set to play at the Transylvania Open in Romania later this month.

Raducanu is still hoping to compete at the WTA Finals in November, but if she fails to qualify, has signed up to feature at the Upper Austria Ladies tournament in Linz.
