Over 25,000 Liverpool fans have had their say on who they think is the best value for money signing for the club was this summer, with 74.5% believing that Jose Enrique was the best investment Kenny Dalglish made in the last transfer window.

Enrique has made 10 appearances for the Reds so far this season, after the Spaniard turned down the opportunity for a new contract at Newcastle to move to Anfield in August.

And in a GiveMeFootball poll, fans seem to agree with Dalglish that a left-back was badly needed to fill a decade-long gap in the Liverpool squad, with over 18,000 putting him ahead of free transfer Craig Bellamy and £6.5 million signing Charlie Adam.

Former Blackpool midfielder Adam came second, with 9.5% of fans believing the 25-year-old can help take Liverpool back to challenging for trophies. Adam has been commanding on the pitch since moving to Merseyside, and fans agree that the Scotland international was a good buy.

Bellamy came third in the vote, with 8.7% arguing that on a free transfer, he has been able to provide the most for his worth at the club so far. But while Bellamy was free, the striker would demand high wages after his time at Manchester City, and Liverpool fans clearly believe that Enrique has shown how far a modest fee of £6 million can go.

Sebastian Coates, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson didn’t fare as well in the poll, receiving 1.86%, 3.4% and 2% of the vote respectively.
