Transfer target Mohamed Bayo would offer West Ham United boss David Moyes the perfect Plan B if Michail Antonio suffers a loss of form, according to Get French Football News' chief features writer Adam White.

What's the latest news involving Bayo?

West Ham are reportedly courting Clermont striker Bayo, who is valued at £10million by his current employers.

Bayo, who has won five caps for Guinea and scored his first goals at international level last week, was also of interest to Bordeaux during the summer and - according to French media outlet L’Equipe via Get French Football News - the Ligue One side saw a bid rejected.

But West Ham may have already hit a stumbling block in their attempts to prise Bayo away from Clermont as he extended his contract with the club until 2024 earlier this month.

However, that has not stopped the rumours over Bayo's future circling and the Hammers' Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion have also joined the race for his signature.

Bayo is in demand after finding the back of the net 22 times and registering seven assists in 38 Ligue Two appearances last season.

The 23-year-old's goals played a key role in Clermont winning promotion and he has taken his fine form into France's top flight, scoring five goals and contributing a further two assists in eight outings.

What has Adam White said about Bayo?

French football expert White believes Bayo would prove to be a shrewd signing by West Ham boss Moyes if he manages to win the race for his services.

White claims Bayo would also give the Hammers an outlet which offers contrasting strengths to Antonio.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think he's probably slightly different to Antonio.

"Antonio has got that history of coming from a wider area and has a little bit more pace and a little bit more power.

"Bayo is more of a penalty box striker on the shoulder sometimes. He is an out-and-out finisher, whereas Antonio has probably got a little bit more versatility.

"He can play in different positions and has experience in other areas."

Why are West Ham interested in Bayo?

Antonio has got the season off to a sensational start, racking up six goals and four assists in just eight appearances.

Only Mohamed Salah and Jamie Vardy have found the back of the net more times since the Premier League campaign got underway.

But the Hammers are keeping an eye on Bayo as Antonio is the east Londoners' only senior striker.
