Roman Reigns WWE: 'Tribal Chief' says CM Punk has lost a step or two following return

Roman Reigns says CM Punk has lost a step or two following his return

CM Punk's return has been the talk of the wrestling world over the last few months, but Roman Reigns isn't too impressed.

In a recent interview with Complex, Roman Reigns was asked about the possibility of him facing CM Punk, and 'The Tribal Chief' wasn't completely blown any by the proposition.

“If our audience wanted to see it and they were clamoring for it, couldn’t shut up about it, and all the stars aligned, as a businessman and as a performer who was trying to seek out the very best for the audience and try to captivate, I wouldn’t say no.

Reigns went on to say that no one would believe that CM Punk could beat him, so a match with the former WWE Champion "doesn't do anything" for him personally:

But I mean, on a personal level, it doesn’t do anything for me. That’s not going to elevate me at all... Then also he got his whooped in the UFC. I don’t think anybody really believes someone 200 pounds soaking wet with no explosive bone in their body could ever really do anything to me.

CM Punk returned to wrestling after over seven years out of the industry in August of this year. Rather than returning to WWE, Punk ended up debuting for AEW in a major coup for the company.

Punk had his return match at All Out, defeating Darby Allin, and while Roman Reigns says he didn't watch the match, he says that he thinks Punk has lost a step from the clips he's seen online.

"He’s older now. I haven’t really seen a full match. I’ve seen a clip or two. And to me, a step or two has been lost."

Roman Reigns will be in action at WWE Crown Jewel next week, defending his Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar.

You can watch Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel on October 21 live in the US on Peacock and in all other international markets on the WWE Network.
