Wilfried Zaha and Tyrick Mitchell are building a promising partnership at Crystal Palace, according to journalist Tom Barclay.

Manager Patrick Vieira is still getting used to his players, and will be looking for combinations that are working on the pitch. It seems that in Zaha and Mitchell, he may have found one.

How have Zaha and Mitchell performed this season?

Zaha spent the majority of last season as a central striker under Roy Hodgson, but has been moved out to the left wing at the start of this term.

Back out on the left flank, he seems to be hitting his stride, having scored two goals and provided an assist in his seven league appearances to date.

Meanwhile, Mitchell has made the left-back spot his own in recent weeks following the departure of Patrick van Aanholt over the summer. He has been quietly going about his business, playing every minute in the top-flight in 2021/22, and has received an average game rating of 6.65 from WhoScored, which see him rank seventh when compared to his teammates.

What has Barclay said about Zaha and Mitchell?

Barclay believes that the duo are linking up well at the moment, and feels that their work down the left wing will be pleasing Vieira.

Referring to Zaha's change of position this season, he told GIVEMESPORT: “He seems to be forging quite a good partnership down that left-hand side. Now he’s gone back to being more of a winger or an inside forward on the left, rather than playing centre forward like he was last season under Hodgson, with Mitchell.

“That combination’s looking really good right now. So, one that Patrick Vieira is probably really excited about. Because the way he wants to play is this sort of free-flowing attacking football.”

Can Zaha and Mitchell cause Arsenal problems tomorrow?

Palace travel to the Emirates tomorrow night hoping to extend their unbeaten run in the league to three matches.

It seems likely that Zaha and Mitchell will be up against Takehiro Tomiyasu and Bukayo Saka down that side of the pitch, which promises to be an intriguing battle. The Japanese international was recently voted Arsenal's Player of the Month for September, while Saka seems to be hitting form after registering a goal and an assist in the north London derby at the end of last month.

The Palace pair, whose combined Transfermarkt valuation stands at £51.3m, will have their work cut out to get the better of Tomiyasu and Saka, but Zaha has already caused Arsenal's bitter rivals, Tottenham, major issues this season when he was directly involved in two goals during a 3-0 win at Selhurst Park, and Mitchell has been one of the side's most consistent performers.

If their partnership can continue to blossom against the Gunners, Palace may fancy their chances of pulling off a shock result, and picking up just their second league win of the campaign.
