When players come up against former teammates on a match day, it's not uncommon for them to share a few words - or even a drink - following the final whistle. However, as Lazio's Luiz Felipe found out on Saturday evening against Inter Milan, it's probably best not to do it as soon as the referee blows for full-time, especially if your opponent is on the losing side!

Up until a couple of months ago, the Brazilian centre-back shared a dressing room with Argentine striker Joaquín Correa at Lazio. Not only were the pair colleagues, but also seemingly good friends.

They were separated in August this year when Correa moved to Inter on a year-long loan deal with an obligation to buy. His return to the Stadio Olimpico this weekend, though, is one that he'll quickly want to forget.

Things were going well for the visitors up until the hour mark in Rome as they led 1-0, thanks to an Ivan Perisic penalty. Lazio, however, roared back in the final third of the game. Goals from Ciro Immobile, Felipe Anderson and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic helped them to a 3-1 triumph.

Lazio's Luis Felipe bizarrely jumps on the shoulders of Inter's Joaquín Correa at full-time

No less than six yellow cards were handed out by referee Massimiliano Irrati across an ill-tempered eight-minute period towards the end of the encounter as tensions ran high.

With that in mind, the actions of Luiz Felipe at the conclusion of the match were absolute madness. For reasons known to himself, the Lazio man decided to head straight for Correa and jump on his shoulders - as though they were still teammates.

Correa wasn't having any of that and angrily shook the defender off him. It's not clear from the footage if he initially realised that the player involved was Luiz Felipe, but he didn't look amused afterwards either.

The bizarre incident then sparked a brawl between the two sets of players, with Inter unhappy at what they believed to be unsportsmanlike conduct. The match official wasn't a fan of Luiz Felipe's antics either, quickly brandishing a straight red card as punishment.

Somehow, the offending player can't get his head around why the opposition is so upset - insisting that it was friendly banter that had gone wrong.

So distraught was Luiz Felipe by the misunderstanding that he's actually in tears as he is led away by club officials.

Quite why Luiz Felipe thought that Correa would be in a joking mood immediately after Inter suffered their first Serie A loss of the season is anyone's guess. Although the frontman is still technically a Lazio player, his future definitely appears to lie at the San Siro.

A thoroughly puzzling act from Luiz Felipe - and one that he'll have time to reflect on during the suspension that he now faces.
