More often than not when a team concedes a goal, there is some form of inquest between members of its defensive line - usually led by the man in between the sticks. On Saturday evening, though, Glentoran goalkeeper Aaron McCarey well and truly crossed the line as he physically struck out at teammate Bobby Burns during their Irish Premiership encounter with Coleraine.
The unfortunate Burns lost possession in the middle of the field to allow Coleraine frontman Cathair Friel to level the match at 2-2 with just ten minutes remaining.
Now, every goalkeeper is understandably disappointed when their net is breached but McCarey was absolutely incensed by his colleague's error. The 29-year-old shot-stopper completely lost his head as Coleraine celebrated, charging out of his goal to confront Burns.
In outrageous scenes, McCarey appeared to lash out at his left-back, sending him tumbling to the ground. The furious keeper wasn't done there, though, as he then grabbed Burns by the shirt as he lay prone in the penalty area.
Astonishingly, other members of the Glentoran side were eventually forced to hurl the match ball at McCarey in an effort to get him to calm down.
A crazy turn of events, the aftermath of the goal invoked memories of Lee Bowyer's famous scrap with Kieron Dyer for Newcastle against Aston Villa, in which both teammates were given their marching orders.

Once the situation had been brought under control, McCarey was swiftly shown a straight red card by referee Andrew Davey. As he left the field, the offending player was showered with boos from his own fans. The red card didn't cause Glentoran any further damage on the night as the match ended 2-2.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Glentoran boss Mick McDermott attempted to downplay the incident, insisting that McCarey and Burns had put the issue behind them.
"Nobody falls out, they're all grown men. It's an incident that shouldn't have happened and now we move on. There's no news. Two players got in a row, it's happened before, it's not nice but it's happened and we move on."
Whether the Irish FA is quite so willing to let the matter go without further punishment remains to be seen.
