Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku pushed into offside position by Brentford’s Mathias Jensen

Romelu Lukaku's bad luck continued as Chelsea beat Brentford 1-0 in the late kick-off on Saturday.

Last night, Thomas Tuchel's side knew they needed to beat the Bees to keep abreast of Liverpool in this season's Premier League title race.

The Blues managed to do just that with a nail-biting 1-0 victory, but it was no thanks to the Belgian striker, who has gone six games without scoring for Chelsea.

He huffed and he puffed, but he failed to find the back of the net (at least officially).

But that wasn't for want of trying, as we are about to show you.

Midway through the first half, a scintillating break down the left saw Timo Werner with acres of space in front of him, with Lukaku just to the right of him seemingly in with a shot on goal.

But before anyone could warn him, Mathias Jensen gave him a slight nudge in the back, clearly shoving Lukaku into an offside position at the last moment as Werner struck a perfectly-weighted pass.

When was Romelu Lukaku born?

After the game, Tuchel insisted he is 'not concerned' about Lukaku's six-game dry spell in front of goal, adding that it was only natural as he felt he was 'a bit tired' after the international break.

“I am not concerned as I felt him a bit tired, and then isolated because we were defending too deep as a block,” Tuchel said.

“I felt him a bit tired. Altogether we produced a very strong 60 to 75 minutes, including Romelu and Timo [Werner].

“Both of them, Romelu and Timo, were too far away to help us escape the pressure. That was the problem, but I have no concerns.

“Normally the best thing is that he scores but he is very unselfish at the moment, looking for Timo in good situations.

“And we had him in the situation [to score], it was a close offside decision.”
