Tottenham Hotspur secured a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

On a day that was billed as the start of a new era for the Magpies, Nuno Espirito Santo's side left Tyneside with all three points.

Goals from Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son were enough for victory, although the visitors made it difficult for themselves in the final minutes of the game.

Newcastle were down to 10 men after Jonjo Shelvey had been sent off for picking up two yellow cards, but they still managed to reduce the deficit to make it a nervy ending for Spurs.

And the manner in which the hosts scored their second goal of the match was absolutely hilarious.

OLE OUT NOW! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! (10 mins watch)

Spurs centre-back Eric Dier was guilty of a horrendous own goal, the ball flying past Hugo Lloris off the Englishman's knee after Jacob Murphy had played a free-kick into the box.

We might not see a worse own goal in the Premier League this season...

As attempted headers go, that's right up there with the worst of them.

Thankfully for Dier, his comical mistake didn't result in Spurs dropping points and the north London side have now moved up to fifth in the table and ahead of Manchester United.

Earlier in the game at St James' Park, play was temporarily suspended due to a medical emergency in the stands.

Dier and teammate Sergio Reguilon were key in alerting the officials about the situation unfolding, with the former heroically telling the medical staff on the touchline to take a defibrillator over to the fan.
