Most savage MMA knockout? Bellator debutant Tywan Claxton landed vicious flying knee

Every MMA fighter wishes to start off their career with a win but there would be few who would finish their first fight like Tywan Claxton did.

The American made his debut in 2017 at Bellator 186 when he fought Jonny Bonilla-Bowman on the preliminary card of the event.

The fight lasted only 89 seconds as Claxton knocked out his opponent with a stunning flying knee. As Bowman lay unconscious, Air Claxton was celebrating by jumping over the cage.

Bowman took a while to return to his corner and eventually needed assistance in leaving the cage.

Claxton's flying knee was a contender for knockout of the year and it is hard to find a better way to start one's MMA career.

Regarding the win, the American said that he does not want to be remembered only for that. "I wish they'd stop playing this sh*t", said the featherweight.

Claxton opens up on brutal KO

"I think it was dope, it was cool, the first couple of months that it was out; seeing it on ESPN and all the different places made all the beatings I took with Blackzillians worth it.

"But that's in the past for me now. I want to be known as more than a one trick pony.

"[In Bellator] you got good strikers, good grapplers, good jiu-jitsu practitioners, but I'm a good MMA Fighter."

Tywan Claxton's fledgling career

After his win over Bowman, Claxton went on to win four fights in a row before losing to Emmanuel Sanchez in 2019.

The 28-year-old's last two bouts ended in defeat with the most recent one coming against Justin Gonzales at Bellator 260 in June.

Things have not being going well for Claxton lately after he was released by the company in July of this year.

So, by the looks of it, there's a good chance that he will only be remembered only for his flying knee against Bowman.
