It feels like we’ve said this on multiple occasions in the last few years but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure at Manchester United once again.Put simply, the Norwegian has to win a trophy at Old Trafford this season after spending more than £120 million on Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and a certain Cristiano Ronaldo. But things aren’t going too well at the start of the season.ENTER GIVEAWAYENTER GIVEAWAYThey’ve picked up just one point in their last three Premier League games and their 4-2 defeat to Leicester on Saturday was wretched. It wasn’t so much the actual result. Everyone knows Leicester are a good side and can beat anyone on their day.But the nature of the defeat was more damaging than the scoreline. It was United’s first away defeat in 30 matches and they simply didn’t look themselves. Can you get 12 out of 12 on this Manchester United shirt number quiz? One aspect of their game that was quite clearly missing was their pressing from the front. And that was highlighted expertly by Alan Shearer on Match of the Day.Shearer picked out numerous clips from the match which shows how United’s forward line and midfield simply didn’t pressurise Leicester, allowing them to pass through the lines and start attacks with worrying ease.Sure, it’s not uncommon for an away side to sit off a bit against opposition that are good in possession. But if you’re sitting off, you need to be far more compact than they were, not allowing an opponent to pass their way through you at every opportunity.

Alan Shearer's analysis on Man Utd's lack of pressing

Check out Shearer’s expert analysis:

The clip was also posted onto United’s Reddit page and it’s attracting plenty of comments from supporters.

Many of them are fearing for their side ahead of facing an in-form Liverpool side next weekend.

Check out the best reaction:

"Liverpool will eat us for lunch next week," one fan wrote.

Another fan replied: "Atalanta will before that".

A third fan asked: "How the f**k is Ole not standing by the sideline and screaming his heart out when he sees this?"

Manchester United's lack of press

But a fourth pointed out that this is more than simply 'screaming at players and needs to be coached by replying: "Fair point but this isn't something that can be screamed into players imo. It's a fundamental lack of coaching and instilling the right patterns into players when they lose the ball."

Another simply wrote: "Such a poorly coached team, it's clear for all to see" while another said: "This is painful to watch."

Another added: "This is probably the best example of what bad coaching looks like."

While Shearer’s analysis looked at United as a team, The Athletic’s Michael Cox went one step further and identified Ronaldo’s role.

The headline reads “Why Ronaldo is giving Solskjaer a huge tactical problem” and Cox looks at the 36-year-olds lack of pressing from the front.

Michael Cox on Cristiano Ronaldo

Cox writes: “He is 36 and, in stark contrast to title rivals whose forwards press relentlessly, Ronaldo simply doesn’t have the physical capacity to repeatedly press — or really, to press at all.”

A graph is also shared from the start of October that shows Ronaldo is bottom when it comes to forwards’ pressing stats so far this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo pressing

It’s hardly a surprise, in truth.

If you expect Ronaldo to be charging around the pitch closing down defenders at his age, then you’re incredibly naive.

But if it’s impacting the team as a whole, then it really is something to be concerned about.
