WWE: Randy Orton’s win percentage is surprisingly low, while John Cena's sits at 80%

Randy Orton's win percentage is surprisingly low

Randy Orton may be one of WWE's biggest active stars right now, as well as already being on his way to becoming a legend of the wrestling business, but his win percentage is pretty surprising.

Randy Orton debuted for WWE in April 2021, and WrestleFeatures has done some maths to work out just how successful Orton has been in his near-20 year WWE career.

The tweet notes that Orton had had 2305 matches for WWE, including not only matches at TV and pay-per-view shows, but also non-televised house shows and live events.

Out of those 2305 matches, Orton has won 1216 of them, giving him a win percentage of just 53%, which seems surprisingly low for someone that has been a top star in WWE for close to 18 years.

Randy Orton's 53% win percentage seems even lower when compared to some other top WWE stars, including John Cena and Rey Mysterio.

John Cena, who came through OVW with Randy Orton and also debuted in 2002, has a win percentage of 79%, meaning he's won 26% more of his matches than Orton.

The same can be said for Rey Mysterio, who has won 925 of his 1340 matches, giving him a win percentage of 69%, which is also significantly higher than Orton's.

There are a few factors that will help make some sense of these stats, and definitely have to be considered when looking at the win percentage of WWE stars.

While Randy has been a top star for years, he's been a heel for much of that run. WWE gives faces wins on house shows to send the crowd home happy, so it's likely many of Orton's close came at non-televised events.

This certainly makes a lot of sense when compared to Rey Mysterio and John Cena who have both spent all of their WWE careers working as babyfaces, so would have picked up a lot of wins on live events.

Randy Orton will be in action at WWE Crown Jewel this week, as he and Riddle defend their Raw Tag Team Championship against AJ Styles and Omos.

You can watch WWE Crown Jewel on October 21 live in the US on Peacock and in all other international markets on the WWE Network.
