Arsenal target Yann M'Vila was sent of last night as Celtic triumphed 3-1 over Rennes in the Europa League.

A brace from Tony Stokes and a late strike by Gary Hooper cancelled out Kader Mangane's second minute opener to seal an impressive win for the Bhoys at Parkhead.

It was, however, a poor night all-round for Rennes who now sit bottom of Group I with only two points from their four fixtures.

Arsenal were reported to have had representatives in Glasgow to run the rule over M'Vila, but the France international endured a miserable night up against the Celtic midfield.

This was confounded by a red card in the latter stages, as M'Vila was booked for a second time following a four on Kris Commons.

Arsenal have been frequently linked with M'Vila this year and, it was claimed, Arsene Wenger made a concerted effort to sign the 21-year-old midfielder.

The Arsenal boss, though, was not able to reach an agreement for M'Vila, with reports suggesting Rennes were demanding as much as £30 million for his signature.
