Fans have been waiting for Dying Light 2 for some time now and the question regarding crossplay continues to be a hotly debated topic.
With the recent release of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S over the past 12 months, supply has been found to be way shorter than demand as millions of gamers across the globe have still not been able to get their hands on these platforms.
As a result, many will like still be playing Dying Light 2 on PS4 and Xbox One, models that were released back in 2013 and 2014. Since the game was first debuted during E3 back in 2018, huge excitement has been building up regarding the upcoming release.
However, after recently been hit with a delay until 2022, Techland, the game’s developers will be hoping that their parkour-based survival game will meet up to the high expectations that have been set by its fanbase.
That being said, players are wondering whether they will still be able to play with those that have been lucky enough to get their hands on a next-gen console.
Dying Light 2 Cross Platform
The great news is that, yes, Dying Light 2 will have crossplay enabled!
According to Techland’s chief technology officer Pawel Rohleder, Wccftech were informed by him that the game was designed to have cross-platform gameplay at the forefront of its priorities.
He said: “Techland always has an eye on the latest new toys,” Rohleder said. “To be more specific – yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title.”
This is excellent news for those unfortunate enough not to possess a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S at this time, meaning that players can stick together and continue to play Dying Light 2 as they did in the first game.
Hopefully what Rohleder is saying means that there will be no technical limitations when it comes to smooth gameplay on PS4 and Xbox One.
Dying Light 2 will launch on 4th February 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
