Conor Gallagher could break into Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea plans if he continues to impress at Crystal Palace, according to the Sun journalist Tom Barclay.

Gallagher left Stamford Bridge in favour of a season-long loan switch to Palace during the summer transfer window.

What's the latest news involving Gallagher?

Gallagher opted to move to Selhurst Park after choosing to turn down a similar approach from Leeds United.

The central midfielder was in demand after spending last season on loan with West Bromwich Albion.

Although he was unable to stop the Baggies suffering relegation to the Championship, Gallagher displayed his capabilities in the top flight by scoring two goals and registering as many assists in 30 appearances.

While he is currently at Palace, his future is still the subject of speculation as - following their £305million takeover earlier this month - Gallagher is reportedly among Newcastle United's transfer targets.

Should clubs look to make a move, Chelsea will hold the upper-hand as the 21-year-old only signed a new five-year contract 13 months ago.

GIVEMESPORT has been told it would cost up to £40million to prise Gallagher away from the Blues.

What has Tom Barclay said about Gallagher?

Barclay believes Gallagher has a future at Chelsea despite heading out on another loan.

Gallagher came through the ranks at Stamford Bridge, making close to 100 appearances for the west London club's under-18, under-19 and under-23 sides.

However, Gallagher is still waiting to make his competitive debut for the senior squad and his only appearance in the matchday squad was for the 2019 Europa League final win over Arsenal.

But Barclay reckons Gallagher is set to be offered an opportunity by Tuchel following his return from Palace.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT: "He's such a good player and I think he's genuinely got a chance of making it at Chelsea if he carries on like this when he goes back. He has been brilliant."

How has Gallagher performed so far this season?

Having been forced to miss the first fixture of the campaign due to Palace facing his parent club, Gallagher has become a key player for the Eagles and missed less than 20 minutes of the Premier League season since.

He also started as Patrick Vieira's side suffered an early Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Premier League rivals Watford.

Gallagher has wasted no time in becoming a fan favourite as he claimed Palace's player of the month awards for August and September.
