Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was on the receiving end of a hefty barge after fronting up to Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann on Tuesday night.Griezmann, who netted both of Atletico’s goals on the night, had just been shown a straight red card after catching Roberto Firmino with a high boot. The Atleti star - along with his teammates, coaching staff and the club’s supporters - clearly felt the decision was harsh.Griezmann, who had his eyes fixed on the ball as it dropped from the sky, had no intention of kicking Firmino in the head. But German referee Daniel Siebert deemed the challenge as dangerous and, after a brief pause, flashed a red card in the Frenchman’s direction.Robertson agreed with Siebert’s call and went face-to-face with Griezmann moments later.p1fidbd3f9als2r4j2i11eh15j8r.jpgThe Scottish defender has developed quite the reputation for s**thousery since joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 - but Griezmann’s teammates were having none of it.It’s hard to tell for sure from the replay because the incident happens so quickly, but it appears that Jose Gimenez is the player who comes in and barges Robertson away from Griezmann.

Liverpool and Atletico meet again in November

Liverpool sealed all three points thanks to Mohamed Salah’s 78th-minute penalty.

The in-form Egyptian also netted the opening goal in the 8th minute before Naby Keita fired home a brilliant volley shortly afterwards.

This Champions League classic ended with Diego Simeone, incensed with some of the decisions over the course of the 90 minutes, running down the tunnel without shaking hands with Jurgen Klopp at full-time.

The two sides go head-to-head again at Anfield on November 3. Let’s hope it’s just as spicy as Tuesday’s encounter at the Wanda Metropolitano.
