Journalist Tom Barclay reckons that once Eberechi Eze makes his long-awaited return from injury, it will be a massive boost for Crystal Palace.

Eze, who signed from Queens Park Rangers for £19.5m last summer, missed the final few games of last season following an Achilles problem sustained in training and hasn't appeared since.

What's the latest news with Eze?

2021 had the ingredients to be a huge year for the 23-year-old, but this injury has overshadowed what might have been a huge 12 months for club and country.

With Eze finally in the Premier League and looking more than just at home at this level, it could have even ended in him turning out for England at the European Championships.

Instead, Eze is still recovering from a freak training ground injury suffered back in May that not only saw him miss Palace's final two Premier League games but deprived him of having the chance of representing England at a major tournament.

Eze's brilliant form for Palace, which saw him score four goals and assist six last season, means that his chance to play for his country is more than likely to come again, but it's proved an incredibly frustrating period for the former Millwall youngster.

Palace have been inconsistent in Eze's absence, although they're ever-improving under Vieira.

And Barclay reckons that once he finally returns to full fitness, it'll be a huge positive for the Eagles.

What did Barclay say about Eze?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It'll be such a boost when he comes back. Achilles injuries can be difficult to come back from, but he's ahead of schedule."

When is Eze expected to return?

When Eze suffered the injury back in May, he was initially set to miss around six months of action which would have seen him sidelined until at least the end of November.

However, Barclay confirmed that Eze is ahead of schedule and the Evening Standard revealed that he returned to individual training over the international break, with his next step joining his teammates on the grass in the near-future.

Further, the Standard believe that Eze could be back playing before the next international break which takes place in the middle of next month. Should that be the case, he might be targeting the home meeting with Wolves on 6 November as his potential first game back.
