Alessandro del Piero has been linked with a move to Everton, according to ClubCall, with the Italian legend set to move away from Juventus in the January transfer window.

Del Piero has been told by Juventus that he is free to find another club in the next transfer window, and Tottenham were believed to be front runners to take the striker on.

But reports in the Italian media are now claiming that Everton are in the race for the 36-year-old’s signature, with Del Piero looking likely to leave the Italian giants for free.

The 36-year-old has 91 caps for the Italian national side, and has made nearly 500 appearances for Juventus since joining the Old Lady in 1995.

And while Everton are currently cash-strapped, the club believe that if they can offer del Piero a chance to move to the Barclays Premier League, he may be open to the possibility of a wage cut.

Everton have been linked with a number of players in preparation for the next transfer window, but the club have admitted that getting the money together to bring in new players will be a problem.
