Lionel Messi delivered when Paris Saint-Germain needed him the most in their Champions League win over RB Leipzig on Tuesday. Two goals from the Argentinian in the space of seven second-half minutes helped Mauricio Pochettino's side to an important 3-2 win.Messi's critics have been quick to react to his relatively slow start to life at PSG - by his own lofty standards - but he served a reminder that those who doubt him do so at their peril.Kylian Mbappe's early opener was cancelled out by Andre Silva before Nordi Mukiele flipped the game on its head in the 57th minute. With Manchester City having already showed their intent with a 5-1 win over Club Brugge in the earlier kick-off, PSG couldn't afford to drop points in their tussle to finish top of Group A.Thankfully, they had a player who could soon be celebrating a seventh Ballon d'Or success on the pitch.p1fiea1edj1o9b1jp01nhcq9r1eidd.jpg

Messi rescued PSG

Messi was quiet in the first half but he came to life after Mukiele put the visitors ahead.

The 34-year-old made it 2-2 in the 67th minute, capitalising after Leipzig lost possession in their own half.

Shortly afterwards, PSG were awarded a penalty following Mohamed Simakan's challenge on Mbappe.

Messi had the audacity to attempt a panenka penalty that caught Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi out.

Messi looked immune to pressure as he casually dinked the ball towards the net.

PSG security guard loved Messi's penalty

The Parc des Princes erupted, and one man who couldn't contain his joy was PSG's very own security guard.

Footage has surfaced of a member of the security team celebrating Messi's penalty as professionally as he could, giving a little fist bump and shaking the rope that's designed to prevent fans from coming onto the pitch.

Messi surrendered hat-trick chance

In fairness to the security guard, who's clearly a PSG or Messi fan, he did well not to completely lose it.

It was a fantastic goal from the former Barcelona star - his third in the Champions League for PSG - and he surrendered the chance to add another to his tally.

PSG won another penalty in injury time but Messi allowed Mbappe to take it, relinquishing the chance to score a hat-trick.

However, the French striker lashed his effort high over the crossbar.

We wish we could have seen the security guard's reaction to that, too.
