Tom Knowles inadvertently produced a contender for one of the funniest penalties ever in Yeovil Town’s FA Cup victory over Weymouth.
The local rivals played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in at the Bob Lucas Stadium in Dorset before the FA Cup qualifier was decided on penalties.
Yeovil sealed their place in the first round of the FA Cup thanks to a 2-1 victory in the shoot-out, but one of their missed penalties has gone viral on social media.
Dale Gorman and Adi Yussuf both found the net for The Glovers before Knowles had the opportunity to score a third penalty.
The 23-year-old stepped up and missed the target by a country mile.
However, the fans’ groans of disappointment immediately turned to cheers and laughter as the ball walloped a poor steward and took his hat off in the process.
The steward’s reaction was fantastic. Despite being knocked for six, he cheered along with the rest of the fans in the stands behind him.
