Former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock has praised both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen for their calm demeanours this year and has suggested the latter in particular has shown maturity, claiming that a couple of years ago the Monza incident would have sparked a punch from the Dutchman.

This year's title race has been an enthralling one between Verstappen and Hamilton with the Dutchman currently leading the standings by just six points with six races left in the season.

Indeed, it really could go down to the final laps of the final race this year, and hopefully the pair will be able to settle it on track rather than via incidents or penalties, as we have seen already during this campaign.

Monza, of course, was the latest significant moment between the two in terms of an accident and Glock has said that a couple of years ago the incident might have sparked a particularly volatile reaction from Verstappen.

The German, though, now says the Dutchman is doing well at cutting a cool and calm figure, much like his British rival for the Drivers' crown.

“Lewis never shows on the outside that he has pressure. He knows very well how to come across as calm,” Glock said to Sport1.

“Of course, he also knows that when he puts on his helmet, it all depends. But he has found a way to appear relaxed and cool.

“Max Verstappen has also managed that well so far. For me, he has made a huge leap, he has become much more relaxed, much more controlled in many ways.

“Two years ago, in a situation like the crash in Monza, he probably would have opened Lewis’ helmet and punched him. Now he leaves him on the left and thinks to himself: ‘See how you get out of this.’”

Both Lewis and Max appear to be dealing with the pressure of this year's battle particularly well but with the ante only set to be upped in the coming weeks, there's still plenty of opportunity for one, or both, of them to let it get the better of them.
